The Laboratory of Dendrochronology


The Dendrochronological Bank of the Soviet Union was founded in Kaunas. Dr Teodoras Bitvinskas was the chair of the Bank, and Dr Vida Stravinskienė (Kaunas) was the scientific secretary. Members of the Bank were B.A. Kolchin (Moscow), M.I. Rozanov (Moscow), V.G. Kolischuk (Lviv), S.G. Shiyatov (Sverdlovsk), N.V. Lovelius (Leningrad) and J.K. Matuzānis (Rīga). Some basic principles were applied to the collected data:
The Bank issued a special confirmation for the submission.



The contents of four volumes of chronologies published in 1979, 1981, 1984 and 1987 within the original title "Дендроклиматологические шкалы Советского Союза" are presented below. They encompass 194 chronologies (from more than 7309 trees) from the Soviet Union submitted to the dendro-bank up to 1987.
